Eastleigh to Host Dance and Coding Beginner's Workshop

PONToon Partner Eastleigh Borough Council has teamed up with Digital Dance Company Pell Ensemble's Rebecca Evans and Technology in Education Company U Can Too's Su Adams to deliver a one-day workshop aimed at introducing women to coding and programming.

The workshop, which runs from 9am to 3pm on Friday the 30th of November, will teach participants the basic principles of programming through applying them to digital choreography and dance.

The morning activities will focus on movement, allowing participants get to grips with the basic ideas that constitute coding and programming by applying them in a digital and choreographical context. 

In the afternoon, participants will use Crumble and Arduino electronic controllers, which are accessible to all levels of programming ability, to build their own interactive lights. After that, for the final part of the day, the workshop's learners will bring the movement and light together for a digital dance testing session.

Make sure to bring along clothes that you're comfortable moving around in, as well as some food. The workshop will feature a 45 minute lunch break, and teas and coffees will be provided.


the workshop takes place at The Sorting Office studios, Eastleigh SO50 5FY.
