Eastleigh Borough Council Hosts PONToon Photography Basics Workshop

On Tuesday the 2nd of July, Eastleigh Borough Council hosted a workshop at The Sorting Office Studios that introduced attendees to the basics of photography.

The session, which ran from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm, was led by photographer and community artist Caroline Rackham, who has a wealth of experience working as both a photography teacher at Eastleigh College and as a freelance photographer for Hampshire based news outlet, the Daily Echo.

Attendees to the workshop were invited to bring along cameras of their own, whether they were using a basic digital camera, a more complex DSLR, or even the camera on a smartphone.

During the workshop, attendees were introduced to the basic camera settings, looking at altering different functions such as shutter speed, aperture and depth of field, before going on to look at some of the various different lenses available.

Participants also learned about some of the ways that photography can be applied in various professional contexts, such as graphic design, social media marketing, or as artistic prints.
